About Ashlynn Green

Photography and Editing are two of my passions. I absolutely love outdoor photography, but occasionally will do a studio set-up. My family is another huge passion of mine. My husband and I were married in the Bountiful, Utah LDS Temple March 2012. Two years later in April we welcomed a beautiful daughter into our lives. We also have an adorable brindle pug.

Week 2 MTC Pictures

Date: March 20, 2014

Where: Provo MTC

Companion: Urling Shimai

Aubree has been having difficulties with her camera uploading to the MTC computers the past two weeks. Luckily she was able to get a couple of pictures off to send to us! We were just able to email her back and forth for about an hour. She seems happy. She wants more t-shirts to wear. My mom sent her a bunch of cookies for St. Patricks day, they were snickerdoodles. Aubree also received a bunch of new missionary clothes and a card reader.

MTC Week Two

Date: March 20, 2014

Where: Provo MTC

Companion: Urling Shimai

This week has been really awesome 🙂 We started teaching two new investigators and we have been having really good lessons with them. Their names are Shibata san and O Kyodai(Brother). In our lessons with them we have been able to understand what they are asking and we have known how to answers them in nihongo. It is really interesting how quickly we have been able to pick up on the language. I know that the gift of Tounges is real, otherwise I would not be able to speak nihongo like I am. We have found out that there are a lot of Portuguese speaking people in Japan and that is why so many Brazilians are called to Nagoya. We have also heard that we may need to learn a little Portuguese in order to teach some people. The Chorotachi in my district have been teaching me a little.

On Saturday I got sick and the Chorotachi gave me a blessing that I would get better. Schmeil Choro did the first part and it was really cool because it was in Portuguese. Nelson Choro said the blessing and it was really comforting to have someone from Boise give it to me. I felt completely better the next day.

Eu estou com saudade de todos, e amo muito voces !! (Portuguese)

Week One at MTC

Date: March 13, 2014

Where: Provo MTC

Companion: Urling Shimai

Konichiwa!

This week has been so crazy! All of my classes are still in Japanese but we are slowly learning. We taught our investigator, Murakami san four times this week. One thing I have learned about the Japanese people is that they have no idea who God is. You have to spend several lessons just telling them who he is and that he loves them to get them to understand a little. We have to do our lessons in all nihongo and murakami san “doesn’t know english.” Yesterday I was telling him that Thomas S. Monson is our current Prophet and I accidentally said that Thomas S. Monson goes to church not leads the church, he laughed at us haha Last week I also told him that Heavenly Father was bad but we got both of those cleared up. Today instead of just writing a bunch of sentences to say we are taking a list of words and going to make the sentences as we go. On Sunday we pretty much has church all day. During our little bit of free time, I got to practice the violin for a special musical number. It was really cool to be able to play again, I am going to be playing abide with me; tis eventide.
In my district there are 8 missionaries including me. We have 4 Shimai and 4 Choro. My companion is Sister Urling and she is from Idaho Falls, she is a lot taller than me so we look kinda funny together 🙂 The other two shimai are Doi shimai and Stevenson shimai, they are both from Utah. Three Choro are from Brazil, Schimel choro, Valante choro, and Trajano choro. The other Choro is Nelson choro and he is from Boise. We all get along really well 🙂

Aubree’s Pre-Mission Details

Back in late October Aubree created a Facebook Group where friends and family members could post where they thought she’d be going on her mission. A few people said Japan, and almost everyone guessed that she would be going overseas.

  • November 1st: She found out from the Bishop that she was assigned a mission.
  • November 7th: The mission call came. It had been sent to our parent’s home so that Aubree wouldn’t be tempted to open it without her family present. Our family drove from Boise to Rexburg and she opened the call… she found out she would be serving in the Nagoya, Japan mission.
  • December 1st: Aubree received her endowments in the newly renovated Boise Idaho Temple to prepare for her mission.
  • February 23rd: Aubree gave her Farewell Talk in the Star, Idaho Stake. There was also an open house at our parent’s home for friends and family to help send her off.
  • March 5th: We woke up at 4 am to prepare to drive her to the Boise, Idaho Airport. At the airport we saw a family dropping off their daughter who was headed out on a flight to the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Mexico. We also so a family dropping off their son who was also headed to a different mission in Japan. Her Aunt Rachel picked her up at the SLC Airport and dropped her off at the MTC around 9 am.
  • March 6th: We received our first email from her and found out that her Preparation Days (P-Days) are on Thursdays.
